Horses of the Sun offers voltige, classical riding, therapeutic riding, summer camps and children's educational programs.
Sonja Koch and Uwe Schneider opened the doors of Horses of the Sun in September 1997. We offer the following:
- Voltige
- Classical riding
- Therapeutic/special needs riding and voltige
- Summer day camps
- Equine-assisted movement therapy
- Equicize (cross-training for adult riders)
New to Horses of the Sun is the Learning for Life children's program which is designed primarily (but not exclusively) for children between the ages of 6 and 13 (grades 1 through 8) who are home-schooled. Times are also available for children who attend the mainstream schooling system.
This course is a developmental guide, which creates and cultivates the child’s uniqueness as an individual. In this program we focus on unfolding and expanding each child’s human potential.
Through working with nature and the elements children will discover, experience and learn how to take in and process information. We teach children how to learn, and not what to learn.
Rhythms of life are learned from nature, drum circles and movement education. Anxiety, low self-esteem, concentration issues and fear of failure seem to disappear as children experience life and living through the influence of horses, farm animals and nature.
Through this ongoing and innovative program, children will stop wondering how smart they are, and discover how they are smart!
