Massage Therapy Scope of Practice

The practice of massage therapy is the assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue and joints by manipulation to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function, or relieve pain.

Bowenwork is a series of gentle moves over muscles and tendons that address the functioning of the body at many levels. It was developed and named after Tom Bowen and Australian who developed the technique over a period of 25 years until his passing in 1982. Bowenwork is a gentle therapy that can be preformed over light clothing in a series of gentle specific moves along multiple points on the body. The move is a simple flip over the muscle that sends a message to the brain to re-set or normalize the tissue or area being treated. Bowenwork often produces long-lasting/corrective results to many acute and chronic pain issues in the body
