Western Mountain Sports is a competitive outlet for anyone interested in higher education and mountain living. If you like to compete in the dirt and on the snow, then Western and Western Mountain Sports is for you. Between the Hartman Rocks trail system, Crested Butte and the Monarch Crest, the Upper Gunnison Valley boasts the very best singletrack on the planet. But even with these world class trails right out their doors, Western students are always stoked to put their bikes away and get out their skis and snowboards for the very best skiing and riding anywhere. We have top-shelf backcountry, sidecountry, and our back yard area, Crested Butte Mountain Resort, pioneered Big Mountain Freeride skiing with limitless, challenging double-black diamond terrain that is second to none. Dave Wiens, one of the most decorated mountain bikers in U.S. history, is the program's director.
