Hypnosis is an ideal neuropathic pain treatment
Hypnotic approaches work well as neuropathic pain treatment in conjunction with standard methods
Neuropathic Pain Treatment
Are you getting worn down with the stress of coping with apparently intractable nerve pain?
Do you find that your pain doesn't seem to respond well to standard pain killers and other forms of pain relief?
Having your pain diagnosed as 'neuropathy' can feel just so unfair. When your doctor tells you that the intense pain you feel is due to 'faulty' pain signals going from damaged nerves to your brain, you may be incredulous. How can the signals be 'faulty'? You really are in pain!
The stressful search for neuropathic pain treatment
Of course, nerve damage and its concomitants are complex matters, and neuropathy pain relief may be a long process of trial and error to find an effective approach. Going through that process can be wearing and stressful and full of frustrations. It all makes for extra stress, and stress is clearly contra-indicated for neuropathy, as it is known to exacerbate the symptoms. And then the stress and the symptoms impact on each other.
How a stress audit can help you on the road to neuropathy pain relief
Now while you may not immediately be able to do anything directly about reducing your symptoms, you do actually have some room for maneuver in bringing down the levels of stress that you have to cope with. Of course, some stresses are unavoidable, but unavoidable stresses are usually much fewer in number than people realize. Doing a 'stress audit' on your life will reveal areas where you can significantly cut stress.
For example, if some of your stress comes from overload, you can maybe look at shedding some of your responsibilities, or delegating them. Maybe you can say 'No!' a bit more often. Or your stress may come from certain relationships - and here it might be possible to ask those involved to give you some leeway.
Any improvement you can bring about in the levels of stress you have to deal with will have knock-on positive effects on your condition, even when you are not directly targeting that.
Calm, relaxed people feel less pain.
One area of stress that people often think is out of their control is the personal tension and emotion that they feel around their situation and their condition. It's normal to feel upset, or trapped, or depressed when you find yourself struggling with an apparently intractable condition. But constant rumination about it is likely to convince you that these feelings are themselves symptoms of the condition. They're not.

These negative feelings are symptoms of emotional arousal. And when you are in a constant state of emotional arousal you are more sensitive to pain, your sleep is jeopardized, and your ability to think clearly is compromised.

The good news is that you can reduce your levels of emotional arousal and generally feel calmer about what is happening in your life - whatever it is. Moreover, when you feel calmer in yourself, you can discover that you have a great deal more control over your experience of pain than you may have believed possible.

And here's how.
